Diversion Route (3pm

Canada Road
Canada Road will be part
of the diversion route between 1pm and 5pm, however it will itself be closed to all traffic from 3pm to 3.45pm when the March
takes place.

be parking restrictions on The Strand, Canada Road, Gladstone Road, North Barrack Road and Dover Road.
Where is the best place
to watch the event?
This year we are having 2 large TV screens,
one either side of the Bandstand. These will not only show close up shots of the concert but will show the whole of
the march as well. This means that once you have your place on the Green you will be able to see the whole event without
moving from your place. We recommend watching the first part of the march on the TV screens.
Are there seats to sit
on?
We only have a few hundred seats and we are anticipating
several thousand people to attend. We would therefore strongly advise people to bring their own seats.
Why do some people get
reserved seating?
Priority is given to the families of those
killed in the bombing who wish to attend. We also provide seating for those taking part in the event and current and
former senior Royal Marine officers.
Are there toilet facilities?
In
addition to the public toilets near the paddling pool there will be additional toilet facilities near the lifeboat station.
Are there any refreshments?
St Saviour's Church will be supplying drinks from near the Lifeboat Station.
The owner of the General Stores on Dover Road will be providing soft drinks from
near the Bandstand.
Ice Cream vans will be located at each end
of Walmer Green.
Additional hot drinks will be available from
an outlet near the paddling pool.
Do I have to pay / do I need a ticket?
No
- the event is free to everyone and no ticket is required. The Bandstand Trust is a registered charity and we will be
selling raffle tickets and gratefully accept donations to help towards the cost.
Where do I get a programme?
A free programme will be distributed with every copy of the East Kent Mercury - available
from Thursday 9th July.
Where can I get further information on the day?
Members
of the committee will be available on the day to help with any questions. The main point of contact will be a Gazebo
errected just to the south of the Bandstand.

Work on the Bandstand is completed.
The repairs to the Bandstand were completed in time for the start of our 2009 season. In addition to
these repairs we have also had a new shed built. The previous shed was in a poor state of repair. (Item
added 05/07/09).
